THE SOULFUL HORSE

My name is Ember Johnson; I graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree concentrating in biology and biochemistry. I began my riding career focusing in classical dressage at the age of six. I frequently moved throughout the United States and continued riding in a variety of different disciplines. Over the years I’ve worked with many incredible trainers who transformed my views of horse training. I follow some philosophies and principles from The Academic Art of Riding, Straightness Training, and Student of the Horse. I combine my background in science with my knowledge of horse training building an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and training. My focus is to build communication and a healthy partnership with the horse while using biomechanics to ensure physical soundness and quality of life. Educating people on how to see the world from the horse’s perspective instead of a human view is integral in my teaching philosophy. Currently, The Soulful Horse operates out of Silverdawn Farm. This facility is owned and managed by the incredibly talented Jennie Palmer.
